Simple Past tense Form The simple past form of  regular verb is verb+ d/Ed Love - loved, work - worked The simple past of irregular verb is different Go - went, draw - drew, give - gave The simple past of have is had; of be is was/were; of can is could or was/were + able to.  Uses 1. This tense is used for a past action when the time of an action is mentioned.  The screening of the film started at 7 p.m.  In such sentence an adverb of time is often used.  Simple past indicates completion of an action in the immediate or remote past: Rama returned yesterday.  Newton saw an apple fall. Past perfect is not used to indicate completion of a single action even in remote past.  So if we say  Newton had seen an apple fall. (it is wrong)  2. letter and sound F in English

F is 4th consonant and it is articulated puffing out the air through the opening of lips. The combined  diagraphs   ph and gh also produces   (f) sound. F is never kept silent in words. Example: Lough, Tough, Pamphlet, Physician etc But in some words last gh sound is also missing Example:  Bough, caught, Drought, Haughty Plough, Slight, Weight, Freight, Fright, Neighbour, Straight >> GH sound is silent when GH  comes after au, ou and I in words. Wells (  born September 21, 1866,  Bromley,  Kent , England—died  August  13, 1946 London) "The crisis of today is the joke of tomorrow" Herbert George Wells was a prolific writer who wrote in many geners but in the world he is famous for his science fiction novels like, The time Machine, The Invisible Man, The War of the Worlds, The island of Doctor Moreau, The First Men in the Moon.  Wells was nominated four times for the Nobel prize but won none. His works reveal that he was truly futurist and visionary. Wells had foreseen the development of aircraft, tanks, space travel, nuclear weapons etc. In the beginning of the century he had foreseen the world figure quite clearly.
